MEET THE RACERS
This year’s Bordon Soapbox is bursting with creativity, colour, and community spirit, featuring an incredible lineup of racers from across the region. From imaginative builds by local schools like Friends of Greatham School and 1st Whitehill, to bold entries from businesses including Site Equip, BTE Automotive, Sandown Mercedes, and Total Mobility Portsmouth, the track will be buzzing with variety. Community groups and charities are proudly represented too, with teams like Whitehill Town Council’s Wacky Racers, Helping Hounds, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and Woolmer Forest Timebank taking part. There are returning favourites such as Phil Dempsey, The Charity Chargers, and the mysterious Monarch Mystery Men, alongside quirky newcomers like Kool Cauliflowers, Geronimo, and We’re Gerwen Nowhere. Whether they’re in it for speed, showmanship, or sheer fun, each team is rolling in with imagination, laughter, and the drive to make Bordon Soapbox 2025 our biggest and best yet.
SuperSlugs [1]
Dan and Annika share a passion for engineering and asking big questions. On seeing the Bordon Soapbox Race in 2023, they asked “why can’t we do that?”- and so they did!
Dan and 8-year-old Annika, from Upper Froyle, are a father-daughter team. They have designed and made the soapbox racer with a little help from their engineering friends (and Annika’s little brother, Oscar).
Dan is the director of Delts XD, a 3D scanning and Engineering company based in Basingstoke. He has always involved his daughter Annika in his engineering projects, including the build of their house, fixing the car and other fun stuff! After seeing the Bordon Soapbox Race, their next project was chosen…

Woolmer Forest Timebank [18]
Why
We’re entering the 2025 Bordon Soapbox Derby to bring people together, have fun, and raise awareness of the Woolmer Forest Timebank. Our mission is to build stronger, more connected communities through the simple act of people exchanging skills and time.
This event is a perfect fit for us—it’s about teamwork, creativity, and supporting each other, just like our Timebank. It’s also a great way to shine a light on what we do, reach new members, and remind people that community spirit is still alive and thriving in our local area. Plus, it’s going to be brilliant fun!
Who
Our team is made up of 3 Woolmer Forest Timebank members, who were strangers before this project and have since become friends. With more in common than just our soapbox
Our driver will be Nicky a passionate Timebanker who has been involved in many local projects and is always up for a challenge. The support crew will include Ben and Ollie a team of builders, creators, and encouragers who’ve come together to make this happen.

Whitehill & Bordon Community Trust [24]
Get ready to meet your local Community Charity! Whitehill & Bordon Community Trust. We live and breathe our motto: "from the community, for the community." Our mission is to enrich local life by delivering fantastic events and projects, ensuring our community venues thrive, and providing crucial support through the local Food Bank. This year, we're revving up for some serious fun! We've joined forces with our friends at Mercers Community Project CIC to enter the exhilarating 2025 Soapbox race. Wish us luck – and we'll see you at the finishing line!
Monarch Mystery Men [25]
Quite simply 3 blokes, who like a beer, and thought building a soapbox would be the ideal excuse. So, after the success (or lack there of) of the Yellow Peril in 2023, both Stu and Paul couldn't let the opportunity pass to this time push James down Chalet Hill, letting him experience the feeling of hurtling down Chalet Hill in something hand made by 3 plonkers, hoping both he and the kart remain in one piece.
We’re Gerwen Nowhere [30]
We are team 30, We’re Gerwen Nowhere, inspired by multiple darts world champion Michael Van Gerwen. We have tried to recreate his dart as our kart and all 6 of us will be doing our best impression of the great sportsman.
We decided our driver (Dave Wilebore) by doing a go karting race at one of our stag do’s and having been the winner out of the 6, he will be taking the drivers seat.
Cannot wait for the race day, we might need some factor 50 on our bald caps 😉😂
Premature Accelerators [34]
I love engineering projects and a bit of speed. We made 3rd place 11 years ago and I want that 1st!
Helping Hounds [37]
Helping Hounds is a dog charity dedicated to finding the perfect home for
every dog. Entirely volunteer managed and run, our kennels are based in
Grayshott, with a network of fosterers in the surrounding area.

MadMen [38]
Mike Winfield and Will Sheppard. Two best mates, local tradesmen competing in the soapbox to show our children that you really can do anything if you put your mind to it. They make us proud every day, this is our opportunity to make them proud as well.
1st Blackmoor, Bordon and Whitehill Scouts [40]

Driven by Stuart Rustell from Think Driving School and Wayne Vessey from WM Building on behalf of 1st Blackmoor, Bordon and Whitehill Scouts.
We are a local Scout group run by volunteer leaders on behalf of children of the surrounding area.
Squirrels for age 4-6
Beavers for age 6-8
Cubs for age 8-10 1/2
Scouts for age 10 1/2 - 14
Today the group are helping to run the Scalextric event in conjunction with Think Scalextric Events and Magnetic Racing at the shed for their “Fundraising Activity Badge” so please come along and have a go on the track to set your fastest time.
It’s only £2 a go.
Can you get your name on the top of the leader board?
If the soapbox looks familiar it was dressed up in a Willy Wonka theme for the last race down Chalet Hill. This year we have made some mechanical adjustments and attempted to make it look like a Formula 1 race car. It has been decorated by the kids from the group with multi coloured hand prints and is in the groups colour scheme of Black, White and Red. Obviously we are looking to break records this year.
The Kids from Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have had a go at piloting the soapbox and it’s safe to say they approve.
George from Beavers says “It’s so fast and cool”
Harry from Cubs says “It’s going to be the fastest one there and it’s going to win!”
We would like to grow the numbers of the group but to do so we need to recruit more leaders. Are you over 18 and could you spare a couple of hours a week to help out? If so we would love to hear from you. Being a Scout leader involves guiding and mentoring youth members through the Scouting program, organizing activities, and fostering a positive and safe environment. It's a role that requires commitment, leadership skills, and a passion for helping young people develop.
If you are interested in joining as a squirrel, beaver, cub, scout or even a leader then please see the following link and get in touch: https://www.scouts.org.uk/groups/12141993?loc=Gu359bw&slug=1st-blackmoor,-bordon-and-whitehill
F1 Mollies Patisserie [42]
Driver: Adam Pett
The F1 Mollies Patisserie car is sponsored by Mollies Patisserie who provide home baked cakes, afternoon tea’s and sharing lunch platters all delivered direct to your door from their Bordon base. In fact, Mollies Patisserie is the most local of all entries being only 50 yards from the track finish line. Mel the master baker and her husband Doug (the logistic delivery driver) look forward to hearing all the cheers as Adam (Doug’s sisters daughter’s boyfriend) navigates his way down the track. Adam and Doug built the kart based off a wheelie bin and some old steel tables. Overall the kart is well worth a Hollywood handshake ! Please check out the Mollies Patisserie stall in the car park near the start line. Thanks to Woody (Kart Design Director), Fiona (Creative Designer), Zoe (choreographer) and of course Adam (Chief mechanic and Driver). Adam is another local Bordon lad, working within the Woolmer Trading Estate. Thank you to all involved in organising the day.
